I’m a mom to a 12-year old daughter who, until recently, would never be accused of being a bookworm. Marley never could find books that she really enjoyed, so she would start one and put it down, only to start another, and never really finish any of them unless it was required for school.
Well, I’m very pleased to report that all of that has changed and she is now an avid reader! She has read some of the books in this list in just a day or two, and this momma is super stoked. (Want some recommendations for adults? Read THIS POST.)
In no particular order, here are a few books I recommend for tweens & teens:
Marley read all three of these books in a matter of about a week to ten days. She loved them so much that she cried when she finished – mostly because it was over.
She just started this series in between other books, and devoured the first in the series. Although she has seen the movies, she agrees that the books are so much better.
Sixteenth Summer by Michelle Dalton
Marley read Sixteenth Summer as a filler when she left her final Divergent series book at her dad’s house, but she fell in love with the sweet story. It’s a geat guilty pleasure read.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Ahhh…yes. Who hasn’t read this book? (Um. Me?) Marley inhaled it, seriously. Stayed up late, got up early, and in less than 24 hours, she finished it. And cried. (I’m starting to see a pattern here.)
Ok, now this is one series Marley hasn’t read, but I have. And I highly recommend it for teens and tweens. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Couldn’t put it down. It’s on Marley’s list – she just hasn’t gotten there yet.
What would you add to the list?
