So, how was your Fourth? We had a fabulous weekend celebrating our country’s independence and spending time with friends and family! I was so thankful the Fourth of July fell on a Friday this year because I was able to have a three-day weekend! Love those, don’t you!? I wanted to share a few pictures from our fun and festive weekend with you.
Here in Georgia, the weather on the Fourth of July is usually incredibly hot and humid, almost unbearable. This year, however, we had a slight reprieve from the crazy hotness. The high Friday was in the upper 80s, which is very mild for July in the South. We took the doors and top off the Jeep, picked up my bestie Debbie and her daughter, and found a great spot on the lake.
We got to our fireworks-watching spot a bit early in order to actually have a decent spot. I enjoyed watching this man sail his makeshift canoe sailboat up and down the lake. I thought that was a great idea to add a little sail!
This was the view from our spot. Acworth Beach was the main location for the fireworks, so rather than fight the crowds that gathered there, we took up residence for the evening just across the water on a smaller beach. I think next year we might watch from kayaks on the lake. Those people definitely had the best seat in the house.
Marley and Claudia passed the time with a few games of 21. We also brought fried chicken, potato salad, watermelon and brownies to munch on while waiting for the sun to go down.
Here’s me and my mini-me! I love her. 🙂
And that’s my best friend Debbie! Love her freckles! Y’all just don’t even know how much I love this woman. Seriously, she’s awesome. Best. Friend. Ever.
The sunset was stunning. I took a whole bunch of pictures in the various stages of setting, but I won’t bore you with those. It was truly gorgeous, though. That right there would have made our time in the sand worth the wait….but there were still fireworks to see!
We had a great show over the lake. I love hearing all the kids “oooh” and “aaah” at all the colors and pops. There’s something magical about fireworks that make me feel like a kid again.
The next day, we enjoyed more time with friends on our new deck! We had a big cookout, and while I’d love to share more pictures, honestly, I didn’t take very many. I was too busy just enjoying myself and forgot to take pictures all day! We had tons of food and had a great time sitting outside in the sunshine, laughing with our friends and stuffing our faces.
We were surrounded by our favorite people, and the weather was perfect. What an awesome way to spend the Fourth of July holiday!
What was the highlight of your weekend?
