Winter is coming and a blanket scarf is the hottest accessory and it will also keep you warm. Blanket scarves are an affordable way to add interest to any outfit; I found this one at Walmart for around $10. A blanket scarf can be intimidating to style because of the amount of fabric, but I am going to show you how to wrap it, drape, it and tie it!
The most common way I wear a blanket scarf is to wrap it around my neck and let the ends hang down in the front.
You can also create the look of a poncho by draping it around your shoulders and adding a belt.
Last year, I got a tip from a fashionista I follow on Instagram about using a rubber band to “tie” the scarf, so it hangs down to eliminate the mass of fabric around your neck. Just fold your scarf into a triangle shape, pinch the ends together, and wrap the rubber band around it at the nape of your neck.
A blanket scarf is also large enough to be worn as a Shawl to keep warm at an outdoor sports event or bonfire.
The last way I styled it was just to loop it around my neck like a traditional scarf, which is perfect when you are wearing it with a coat.
I have seen several fashionistas cut their blanket scarves in half to make them more manageable. This is a great option if you are on the petite side. Do you own any blanket scarves? Which way is your favorite way to wear it?
