I’m Kirsten, and I’m very happy you’ve decided to stop by for a visit. Have a seat on the front porch swing and I’ll be right back with mason jar of sweet iced tea.
This little blog of mine began in 2010 as an outlet for my creativity and a way for me to de-stress, and over the years has turned into a full-fledged business called Sweet Tea, LLC. Read on to get the full story!
My husband Mark & I moved into our current home just outside of the Atlanta, GA, area during the summer of 2012 and have been working on a bunch of projects ever since. To be honest, I didn’t exactly love our house when we bought it, but Mark did. Or maybe he just loved that we finally found a house and made the deal happen. Girl, we put offers in on 13 houses before finally landing this one! THIRTEEN!
Crazy sauce, right?
So what do you do when you don’t love your house? You learn to love it, and you make it your home. Together with my learning-to-be-handy hubby, we’ve been making our house a home and sharing it here with you! You can check out all of our updates on our home right HERE.
Oh, speaking of teens – I am a proud momma of a 14 year old daughter named Marley (who happens to be a contributor here on the blog!). I tell everyone how amazing she is, despite the best efforts by her dad and I to mess that up after our not-so-nice divorce when she was three. I’m not kiddin’, it was really rough for a while, but because of the good Lord above, she turned out just fine, and he and I didn’t kill each other. WIN WIN!!
Some tasty tidbits about me, if you’re interested…(as I like to call this, it’s the “quick & dirty” version of my bio):
- I’m an only child, born & raised in the South
- I’m a strong Christian and stand firmly in my faith, but recognize that I’m a sinner saved by grace
- I don’t sugarcoat anything (except my tea – the sweeter the better, am I right?!)
- A lot of people are shocked to meet me and see my tattoos – 6 so far, including a half-sleeve!
- I have a really goofy sense of humor – and laugh at myself often.
- I’m constantly creating – craft projects, new ideas, get-togethers with friends… It fuels me.
- I’m an extrovert, and love meeting new people, so don’t be afraid to say “hi”!
Sweet Tea & Saving Grace is a re-birth of a blog I started in 2011 that a lot of folks know as “One Tough Mother”. In May 2014, after taking a much-needed blogging break, I came back with a fresh outlook on both life and blogging and decided to give my little piece of the internet a makeover. On these pages, you’ll find posts about living a simpler life, and creating your own style with DIY crafts and home decor.
Now I’ve got a team – my Sweet TeaM << (see what I did there? I’m hilarious.) – who also shares amazing, inspiring, and encouraging blog posts with you! Be sure to meet the Sweet TeaM right HERE!
In the fall of 2014, I began offering my services as a virtual assistant to other bloggers, and very quickly became the go-to person for newsletters and email marketing. It’s truly something I’m passionate about, so what began as a simple VA business has turned into a business that now allows me to work from home!
I share everything I have learned about the business of blogging, and all of my expertise with email marketing, with bloggers and creative business owners. It’s too much fun to be called “work”!
Oh, and as for the name of the blog? My family and I are saved by grace through faith, and sweet tea is the sweet nectar of life here in the South! And yes, I do drink it from a big ol’ mason jar!
Stick around. There’s plenty of silliness to go around!
