I thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous Labor Day weekend at home, with three straight days of creating and family goodness and bringing fall into my home! One of the bigger projects that I completed was staging my front porch swing for the cover of From the Front Porch magazine. Today I’m excited to show you The Making of a Fall Front Porch.
Ok, first of all, I’m about to burst because the Fall 2015 issue of From the Front Porch comes out NEXT. WEEK. Can you believe it? Yea, me either.
Even though it was close to 90° here in Georgia this weekend, I was determined to get my front porch decorated for fall and stage the photo that will be the cover of the fall issue. I had a vision in my head, and got kind of close, but decided to call in the troops for help.
And by “troops”, I mean those awesome Periscopers. You can catch the replay right HERE.
When I went live, my front porch looked like that photo above. Not bad, right? But something was just off.
I loved all of the suggestions from the Periscope viewers! The fabric pumpkin just wasn’t working, but everyone loved my boots, so we knew those had to stay.
Instead of dropping them under the swing, though, I moved those into the crate and got rid of the pumpkin. I also added a giant sunflower based on suggestions from the scope.
I love all the pops of yellow with the autumn red, don’t you?
I picked up that sunflower pillow at a vendor market last fall. The lady who hand painted it was just too cute, and very talented. I love sunflowers so choosing that pillow was a no-brainer for me.
The layers of blankets came from my never-ending collection. I love blankets. I get most of mine at HomeGoods or Marshall’s. Usually for about $20, I can get a super soft and pretty blanket. The pillow is Ralph Lauren – also a HomeGoods find!
While scoping live this weekend, some of my amazing viewers pointed out that I had to put a mason jar of sweet tea on my front porch! I didn’t really think to do that initially because the finished picture was for the magazine, but now I think that my sweet tea will have to make an appearance on every cover from here on out!
I don’t think the front porch has ever looked prettier!
So here’s the deal: The Fall 2015 issue of From the Front Porch hits digital news stands next Wednesday, September 16th. To make sure you get it, sign up for my newsletter right HERE.
