20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

I recently read a post by my friend Erika in which she shared random tidbits about herself, and honestly, I loved it.  I love getting to know the people behind the screen, and I decided to play along.  This “20 questions” type post began as the brainchild of April from Blacksburg Belle in an effort to create more of a sense of community and engagement.  Y’all know I’m all about some community so let’s get to it, shall we?!

20 Things You Might Not Know About Me | Sweet Tea & Saving Grace

#1 – How tall are you?

I’m 5’7″-ish.  Maybe a tad bit taller.  My 12-year old daughter is quickly catching me, and may pass me!  My mom is teeny tiny at only 5’1″.  All my height came from my grandfather and his sisters.

#2 – Do you have a hidden talent?  If so, what?

I can wiggle my nose like a bunny.  It’s not cute so you can’t see it.  HA!

I also have long toes and I can pick things up with them, and pinch the crap out of the back of my husband’s arm when he misbehaves.  Watch out!  {I can’t believe I’m telling you guys this stuff.}

#3 – What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

I might hurt some feelings here, but in all honestly, I cannot stand to see fabulous blogs turn into sponsored-post machines.  I completely understand that money is important and a lot of bloggers depend on their blog income, but when the majority of your posts are sponsored, I feel like you lose your authenticity.  It makes me sad.

#4 – What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?

Just one?  If I can only pick one, I’ll pick….stupid drivers!  Y’all, I spend 3 hours each day in the car going back and forth to work and people are just dumb.  They act like they are the only people on the road, and all the rest of us just better get out of the way!  Stupid people change lanes without warning, don’t look before pulling out, cut me off even when nobody is behind me, drive too slow, drive too fast, or just DON’T GET OUT OF MY WAY!!

*ahem*  I’m ok.  Really…  Let’s just move on, ok?

#5 – What’s your favorite song?

I’ll claim it – I ain’t skeered.  “I Remember You” by Skid Row.  Go ahead – laugh it up!  But Sebastian Bach was just plain hot back in the day, and every single time I hear that song (and I hear it A LOT because it’s on my iPod) I sing every word, rock out in my Jeep, and just swoon at the memory of the video and his hair in his face…and those yummy lips.  Ugh.  I melt.  Go watch.  At 4:40 into it, I seriously get all squidgy inside…yup yup.

#6 – What’s your favorite Etsy shop that isn’t yours?

Honestly, I don’t have one.  Recommend a few – I love handmade goodness!

#7 – What’s your favorite way to spend your free time when you’re alone?

BAHAHAAA!!!  Free time?!?!  Oh, that’s rich!  HAHA!!  Wow.  Yea.  Ok, next question.

#8 – What’s your favorite junk food?

Anything with chocolate in it, on it, under it, around it…

#9 – Do you have a pet or pets?  If so, what kind and what are their names?

I’ve already decided that my three furbabies will start making more appearances here on the blog, so this is a great time for introductions.

Dakota SavannahThat’s Dakota on the left and Savannah on the right.  They’re sisters and they are almost 8 years old.

Daisy MaeThis is Daisy Mae.  She’s so happy to be here. Can’t you tell?

#10 – What are your number one favorite nonfiction and fiction books?

I pretty much read fiction, and have a few good ones in the past, but overall Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls is my fave.

#11 – What is your favorite beauty product?

Redken Real Control Shampoo & Conditioner

My hair knows when I cheat and just doesn’t play nice.

#12 – When were you last embarrassed?  What happened?

Ok, true story: When you grow up with the most embarrassing dad in the whole world, you become an adult who just doesn’t get embarrassed very easily at all.  In fact, I have become the parent who does the embarrassing.

However, I tend to have a running problem with pants ripping.  Now, it’s not because of my size…it’s because I wear my jeans until they flat give out.  I was at work one day, standing in the doorway of another person’s office, just being chatty Cathy and whatnot.  About an hour later, I went to the restroom, and when I pulled my pants down, there was a hole in the crotch about the size of a plum.  Yep.  The entire time I was talking to my coworker, there’s a hole in the front of my pants at the crotch.  I made a b-line for the nearest department store and quickly snatched up a new pair.

Good times, y’all.  Good times.

Marley & Mom1 Grad{Another pants-ripping moment circa 2006 – Marley’s preschool graduation.  Hence the cardigan around my waist.}

#13 – If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Come on, y’all, do I really need to answer that one?

(If you said yes, you obviously don’t know me or the name of my blog.)

#14 – What’s your favorite movie?

I don’t have just one, so here’s a list, mmmk?

Boondock Saints
So I Married An Axe Murderer
Little Mermaid
August Rush
Talladega Nights
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Ok I’ll stop now…

#15 – What were you in high school – prom queen, nerd, cheerleader, jock, valedictorian, band geek, loner, artist, prep?

I was worse than a band geek…I was the band manager.  I couldn’t play an instrument but my friends were in the band so the drum major let me help out.  I was the one who laid out the equipment for the baton twirlers and drill team.  I was definitely a nerd.

Today’s PSA:  Don’t despair, nerds of the world!  I graduated with a 4.0, National Honor Society and Beta Club honors, took all Advanced Placement classes…and now I blog.  So see there?!  You, too, can become a cool person!  🙂

#16 – If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

I don’t necessarily have a specific location, but I do know that it involves sand, salt water, fresh air, sunshine, and, of course, my sweet family by my side.  Some place reminiscent of where Mark and I got married would do me just fine.

#17 – PC or Mac?

PC

#18 – Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?

Every single day, my hubby and I text little “I love you” messages throughout the day.  He leaves for work before I get out of bed, so I send the first one as I leave home in the morning.  Then at lunch we send another.  If one of us misses it, we notice.  🙂  His coworkers still call him “E Harmony”, and we’ve been married more than six years.  I {heart} him mucho much.

#19 – Favorite celebrity?

Honestly, I don’t really care for celebrities all that much.

#20 – What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?

I’m already best friends with the most awesome bloggers on the planet, so I have that one covered.  🙂

{I’m looking at you, my sweet unicorns!  You know who you are, and I love you all bunches and bunches!!}

Feel free to do this questionnaire yourself – it’s fun!  Visit Blacksburg Belle for all the deets.

And just for kicks, here are a few other random tidbits about me:

* I have a fascination with mustaches.
* I have 4 tattoos.
* I’m an only child, and mom to an only child.
* I have a short attention span, which makes it hard to sit through a movie.
* But my hubby loves movies, so I make an effort.
* My daughter has turned me on to 5 Seconds of Summer.  We both like Luke the best.
* I sing loudly in my Jeep, even when I’m not alone.
* I have no shame.
* I laugh at my own jokes, too.
* I find myself hysterical.
* My mom is the only other person who finds me even remotely funny.
* My husband thinks I’m just weird.
* I think I’m done for now.

Enjoy your day!
