It’s Friday! It’s been a looooong week, and everybody knows the Christmas season is way too busy. So, gather the family in front of the TV tonight for Christmas movie night!

I think it’s time to reintroduce myself. Hi! 👋 I’m Kirsten. I don’t spend as much time on this IG as I used to because I opened a retail store called Lake & Local back in January 2022, so that’s my main focus these days.

I live on Lake Oconee in Greensboro, GA with my hubs and our four kitties (yep, we’re crazy cat people over here). All of our kitties are rescues, and that little black kitten, Poe, is the newest addition to the family, enjoying life with his ginger sisters, Lucky, Maxine, and Clover.

My business, Lake & Local, is where I thrive. My biz partner Kelly and I make a lot of our inventory - shirts, tumblers, etc. Plus we offer weekly craft workshops in our studio space! It’s been a really fun ride. We even had the CEO of Supacolor (who makes our shirt transfers) visit the shop all the way from New Zealand recently!

This morning, I was compelled to begin a self-led

This morning, I was compelled to begin a self-led study of “grace” - what it is, what it means for us, how it is represented in scripture, and so forth.

In my research, I came across a sermon by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called “Man’s Sin and God’s Grace”. I read the entire thing and wept at the end. It was so incredibly simple yet powerful. I encourage you to read it - it’s linked in my bio.

While much of the sermon is worth sharing, this nugget stood out to me:

“The whole of life hinges on the ever flowing power and ever flowing stream of God’s grace. Grace is just that something that God gives us. It’s a gift that we don’t merit, that we don’t deserve, but which we so desperately need. That’s grace, and none of us could live without it.” - MLK, Jr.

We cannot live without God’s grace, yet it isn’t something we can earn or that we deserve.

Dr. King goes on to share how we as a country have gone the way of the prodigal son, but God says to simply “come home”. Where sin increases, so does God’s grace.

He closes with this prayer, which I’ll also close with:

“Oh God, our gracious heavenly Father, help us to see the meaning of this grace, and help us to realize that in our sinful lives there is some hope, there is a way out through Thy powerful and ever flowing grace. In the name and spirit of Jesus we pray. Amen.”
