24 Days of Christmas – Day 5 – Tree Preservative

Hey there!  Are you lovin’ our 24 Days of Christmas special so far?  I hope so!  I’m lovin’ sharing it with you all!

Today, I want to share a tip to help save your Christmas tree, and hopefully keep all those pine needles on the tree instead of under it 🙂

Christmas Tree Preservative Recipe
  • 1 gallon of water
  • 2 cups light corn syrup
  • 4 teaspoons chlorine bleach
  • 4 teaspoons lemon juice or vinegar
VERY IMPORTANTDO NOT mix the bleach and vinegar directly!!!!  Mix the bleach in the water FIRST.  The bleach/vinegar combination produces a nasty chemical reaction, so make sure you only add the bleach to the water.

You can make a pitcher to keep in the fridge for 4-5 days – just be sure to label it carefully so nobody drinks it, especially the kiddos!

By the way, you can make this in smaller quantities and use it on fresh cut flowers, too – all year long!

See you tomorrow!
