Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing bits & pieces of my home office that has been getting a makeover. I’m excited to share the finished space with you today! Warning: Lots of pictures in this post! I hope you like my Bright & Rustic Home Office Reveal as much as I do!
I’m a brand ambassador for Graham & Brown, who sent me that gorgeous canvas, entitled “Sailing“, that now sits on my Rustic Shelf. That canvas was the color inspiration for this entire space.
Each month, Graham & Brown highlights one home decor trend, and in August, it was called “Eureka”. Eureka represents the bold use of primary colors to create an expressive space in your home. “Sailing” is a stunning abstract of sailboats against a sunset sky, and I fell in love with the rich oranges, blues, and yellows. It really brightens up an otherwise bland space.
My home office area wasn’t always a home office. It’s always been one of those weird spaces in our home that had no designated purpose. Because my craft room is cut off from the rest of our home, I wanted a small office space that would allow me to be closer to my family while having a dedicated work space.
I love color, but I am married to a man who would live in a khaki world if I let him. I wanted to marry my love of bold color with the rest of our decor, which is more rustic with touches of navy and red, but I didn’t want to go too overboard with color and give my husband a stroke. 🙂
I think this space does all of those things perfectly. The rustic shelf holds my industrial faux galvanized magazine holders, and a few pieces that both serve a purpose, like my colorful bowl of washi tape, and add a little character, like my wood block photo of my daughter and our dogs.
The canvas is huge, and I love that. It completely fills the wall and draws the eye upward, making the room feel a bit bigger.
This little home office sits between our kitchen and family room, just off the hallway, but now it feels like it’s own special room, and it’s very representative of me!
I scored this beautiful upholstered chair with nail head trim at my local Bargain Hunt store for only $40! It’s got a few scratches on the legs, which I’ll eventually fix, but it’s the perfect compliment to my desk that got a color makeover and industrial accents on the corners.
I was looking for a new desk lamp at Marshall’s, and didn’t find one I liked, but I did find this rug for only $20. Dang I love a good deal! Especially on something so pretty! The colors couldn’t be more perfect!
I moved my big wall calendar from my craft room to my home office so I can see all of my email consultations and other appointments at a glance. The brown kraft paper really works well with the decor in this office.
I love to surround myself with inspiration and things that make me happy. If you caught one of my Periscope broadcasts a couple weeks ago, I showed off a new tea towel that I bought, and this little tag was attached. It’s a mini version of the design on the tea towel. In case you can’t read it, it says, “Southern Girls like sunshine and Sweet Tea.” Perfect, right?
My desk accessories are the finishing touch. I picked up that cute yellow cloud mail holder at IKEA a couple years ago, and simply tied a navy ribbon around a mason jar to hold my pens.
I also created this cute mouse pad on Shutterfly – yet more visuals of what and who I love! Speaking of Shutterfly, they’ve featured this little home office space on their blog, along with 75 other Inspiring Home Offices! Check it out HERE.
Finally, I added a brown basket to the bottom shelf on my desk to hold my camera gear, and use the top shelf to hold my Erin Condren Notebook and Life Planner. A place for everything, and everything in it’s place!
I am completely in love with this bright & rustic home office! The colors are fun, but not crazy. The style blends perfectly with the rest of our home decor in the living area. And I now have a dedicated office from which to work, while still being close to my family.

Beautiful space! I love what you did with a small area and the painting is just wonderful!
I love your new office space! I am working on my craft room right now and was having a hard time figuring out how to store my photography equipment. I love the idea of a basket or bin to keep them in.
I absolutely love the blue desk and rug! Who wouldn’t want to sit at that desk? You’d feel like you could conquer the world there! 🙂
