Hey y’all! Ever since Mark and I built our deck last summer, I’ve been excited to add pops of color. I decided to take advantage of all of the rail space on our deck so I created a Deck Hanging Pot Rod to add flowers and bright color! (I shared this project originally on Yellow Bliss Road.)
I found these super cute hanging galvanized metal pots in the Target dollar bin and just knew I had to come up with something fun to use them.
To hang them on the deck, I decided to use a tension curtain rod.
The first thing I did was drill a few holes in the bottom of each bucket to allow the water to filter through the soil.
Next I added a layer of pebbles to the bottom.
Finally, I just added my soil and flowers.
Before planting, I dressed up my pots with a little spray paint, just for fun. 🙂
While I had the spray paint out, I gave my tension rod a coat of color, too. It looked better than the plain white, and made it look more like part of the deck, rather than a cheap curtain rod.
I picked a place on my deck that would allow my flowers to get sun, hung the tension rod, and added the flowers to it.
Savannah was curious about these weird things hanging right outside the door, but I think she likes them! I know I do!
These were so easy to make and really do make a nice addition to the deck. A Hanging Deck Pot Rod is a cheaper & simpler alternative to a wooden flower box, too.
