DIY Potpourri Christmas Ornament {Guest Post by The Fruitful Home}

Tanya from The Fruitful Home is visiting today to share her tutorial for a Potpourri Christmas Ornament.  These would be cute gifts by themselves, or as an addition to a gift tag!

This is a fairly easy project.  I first made one of these when I was in high school at a Santa’s Workshop I attended.  The nice thing is it not only looks nice, but smells nice, too!

Here are the items you will need:

  • A small embroidery hoop
  • Lace material
  • Ribbon (thin & wide)
  • Potpourri
  • Glue or glue gun

First, you need to cut the lace into two circles that will fit inside the embroidery hoop.  I just used the hoop as a pattern and made it a little bit bigger than the hoop.  Then you need to unscrew the hoop so it is now in two pieces.  Once you have it cut out, place the circle on top of the embroidery hoop.

Put a little bit of potpourri on top of the circle.  Place the other circle on top.  Next, you put the other half of the hoop on top of the first half.  It will be a tight fit.  You may need to trim around the edges a little.

Cut the thin ribbon to make a loop to hang.  I just tied a small knot.  I then tied the wider ribbon into a bow and glued it to the top.

Now you have a pretty and nice smelling ornament to hang on your tree or give as a gift.
