DIY Spring Wreath

We are having unseasonably cold weather here in Georgia and it’s really getting on my nerves.  It’s Spring for crying out loud!  Even if the thermostat says otherwise, I was determined to bring Spring to my home.
I had this vision in my head of a really cute wreath, but by the time I finished, it was completely different, but equally cute and springy!
I shopped at the Dollar Tree for artificial flowers and gardening gloves.  I found my super cute spade at Marshall’s, and the wreath, butterflies, and watering can at Michael’s.
I knew I wanted the watering can to appear to be watering the flowers, so I called in the special skills of my hubby and his power tools:
He drilled two small holes in the back side of the watering can, and I used a pipe cleaner to tie it to the wreath.
I tied it on at an angle and clipped a little butterfly next to it.
I clipped the artificial flowers apart from their bunches and laid them out on the wreath.  Once I figured out the placement, I simply wove their stems into the branches of the wreath, then tied a strip of burlap around them to hide the stems.
Finally, I laid the gardening gloves on the wreath, placed the spade on top, and tied them on with a pretty satin bow.

Besides the fact that my front door is in desperate need of a fresh coat of paint, I think it looks rather cute!  My front door is dressed for Spring…sure wish I could do the same!  Come on warm weather!!!

How are you decorating for Spring?

  1. So cute! I did an Easter egg basket for my front, but will change it after Easter. Thinking of doing one of your ribbon wreaths in Spring colors.
