Spring has arrived! While some of the country is still under snow storm watches, some of us are wearing shorts and flip flops and soaking in all the warmth, smells and goodness of springtime. I’m excited to share with you today how to create a spectacular Dollar Store Garden Party Tablescape that will wow your garden party guests! You will be amazed at the gorgeous tablescape you can make on a frugal budget.
Dollar Store Garden Party Tablescape
Whether your garden party guests are young, old or in between…the dollar store has what you need! You can make a garden party that caters to children for an after school playdate or an afternoon tea for you and your best friends.
What I really enjoyed about creating this Dollar Store Garden Party Tablescape is the possibilities were endless and I didn’t feel guilty about the cost because everything was a dollar! I did get a little carried away and had to limit myself because I wanted to keep putting things in my shopping cart! I quickly remembered that I had to leave some space on my garden party table for food, drinks and desserts for my party guests. Let’s dive into planning the garden party tablescape details!
I created my tablescape foundation by doubling up 2 plastic dollar store tablecloths. I layer them with colors that compliment one another and the party theme. For my garden party tablescape I went with pink and yellow. I created “pick ups” along the table edge by simply picking up a small section of the tablecloth by pinching it and applying a piece of tape to hold it in place. I then added a dot of hot glue to adhere a small butterfly jewel on top of the tape.
I continued creating the “pick ups” all along the edge of my 6 foot long party table. I just love how this method shows the layered tablecloth and a second pop of color underneath.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found 3 different spring styles of paper plates, napkins and cups at my local dollar store. I decided on a brightly butterfly styled set for my garden party place settings. I also grabbed a pack of paper doilies to place underneath my butterfly paper plates as placemats. I like how this gave my place settings a more layered and textured look.
I just couldn’t pass up these adorable paper butterfly straws. I simply cut them in half because I was serving punch, I was using small plastic cups for my party guests. I couldn’t serve my punch in a plain plastic cup, so I tied a bow from yellow dollar store ribbon and hot glued it to the front of the cup. How cute is that?!
Mason Jar Centerpiece
What’s a garden party without a mason jar? I try to use a mason jar in some form or fashion in all of my parties. It’s a must! For this Dollar Store Garden Party Tablescape, I decided to put the mason jar front and center.
To create this simple mason jar centerpiece, I grabbed a roll of pink burlap and some yellow ribbon from the dollar store. I simply cut a large enough piece of burlap to go around the center of the mason jar and glued it down with a dab of hot glue. I then tied a cute bow with the yellow ribbon and glued that to the center of the pink burlap.
For the final touches to my garden party tablescape, I grabbed these pretty mesh butterfly decorative pieces and the cutest, most adorable garden figurines I had ever seen!
Tip: You can add a couple of other pretty decorative pieces that you might already have on hand just like I did here! I grabbed this adorable little tea pot and put a large fresh flower in it and I also thought these fake potted flower plants were the perfect accent pieces to my party tablescape.
I do hope that you get out and enjoy this beautiful spring weather. If you do, consider having a garden party and invite a few guests! Follow my tips and you too, can create an adorable Dollar Store Garden Party Tablescape!
