How I Create My Everything Planner & Notebook

When my daughter was still in school, I used an Erin Condren weekly LifePlanner religiously, but since she graduated a few years ago, and I've started a business, I've struggled to find a system that works. In 2023, I tried an Erin Condren Monthly Planner and finally found a system that works! I call it my "Everything Planner". Let me show you how I create my Everything Planner & Notebook using an Erin Condren Monthly Planner.

I don’t know if I can fully express my deep love for a planner that is both beautiful and functional. Add in high-quality, thick paper and I’m a puddle on the floor.

I have several posts in my archives about Erin Condren planners and notebooks, and have tried using other brands, but nothing compares for me. Check out a few from years’ past to get an idea of what I love about them:

Erin Condren Deluxe Notebook

When my daughter was still in school, I used a weekly Erin Condren LifePlanner annually for about seven years, using the school calendar layout that began in July and ended each June. It held everything I needed to keep track of her school activities and our home life.

Now that she’s in college, I don’t need to keep a school year planner any longer, and I don’t have any school activities to manage. I have a brick & mortar business, my blog, and our home life, so things look a bit different now, which means I need a different planner.

I’ve struggled to find a system that works, but last year, in 2023, I went back to Erin Condren and found the Monthly Planner. After a few months, I found a way to use it that fit every aspect of my life, so I’m using it again for 2024!

Erin Condren Monthly Planner

The Erin Condren Monthly Planner has two size options: 7″x9″ and 8.5″ x 11″. I went with the larger size because I write big and also have a lot of information to keep up with. (I don’t think I’ll ever go fully digital with my planning and notes.)

You can customize your cover, choose your coil colors, and even add more lined note pages, which I chose to do. Again – lots to keep up with and I wanted it all in one place.

Let’s take a peek inside the Monthly Planner I used in 2023.

Inside the Erin Condren Monthly Planner

Inside the front pages of the Erin Condren Monthly Planner, you have a two-page spread with a total of 12 boxes. You can use these for tracking monthly goals or to-do list items.

I made a Table of Contents for my notebook and y’all, this was a game-changer!

Because I used my Monthly Planner for literally every aspect of my life, this made it super easy to find things throughout the year. I numbered the pages before I started using my planner so I could keep my Table of Contents organized. If I brainstormed ideas for my business in March and needed to refer back them in June, I could find that page quickly. Notes from a meeting? Got ’em!

I’m definitely doing this again in my 2024 Erin Condren Monthly Planner.

Each month has a full two-page spread, and with the 8.5″x11″ notebook, that gives you nice big boxes to write in (and make a mess in, in my case).

Each month has a sturdy, laminated tab, and is separated by about 10 lined pages for notes.

About three months into the year, I realized I could really benefit from weekly planning pages for to-do list items that had a specific date, appointments, etc. so I made my own.

Immediately after each monthly spread, I drew lines to create daily boxes and a “Notes & To-Do’s” section in the sidebar. This is something else I’ll definitely do again in 2024 because it really helped my ADHD-brain stay on task each day. A laundry list of tasks with no deadline just doesn’t work for me.

Because I added the 40 pages of lined note pages, I added adhesive tabs for various sections of notes. For example, if I took an online course, the notes for that course went in my notebook and I labeled the section with a tab.

Inside the 2024 Erin Condren Monthly Planner

I purchased my 2024 Erin Condren Monthly Planner back in the summer so I’ve been anxiously waiting to get it set up for the year. Let me show you how pretty this is.

I chose the Wildflowers cover and it’s just so pretty and peaceful. I again went with the 8.5″x11″ size because it’s large enough to keep everything for business and home in one place.

The Monthly Planner starts off with these goal planning pages, which I use as my monthly Table of Contents.

Each month is a two-page spread, and as I mentioned, I love the big squares so I have plenty of room to make a mess!

There are 5 sheets of lined note pages (10 total) between each month that you can use for anything you like. I use the first few pages of each month’s section for my weekly spreads.

Right after the two-page monthly spread, there is a goal planning page that’s actually more useful than in previous years. The top section is for goals, with two middle sections for “important dates” and “important projects”. At the bottom, there are tracking spaces for up to five tasks, with little circles to check off each day.

Setting Up the 2024 Erin Condren Monthly Planner

It’s pretty easy to set up the Erin Condren Monthly Planner the way I like it. I start by numbering the pages, then set up the Table of Contents.

Then I set up my weekly spreads. I usually only do this at the beginning of each month. I don’t try to do the entire year at once, but that’s just because it’s time consuming and I’m lazy. 😉

Quick Tip: If you want to set up your planner like mine, start at the top of the page and count six lines down. You’ll fit six sections on one page.

I keep a sidebar on each page, and split my weekend at the bottom with a Monday start on each page.

Don’t forget to go back and add your pages to your Table of Contents if you’re using it that way. This is an ever-evolving Table of Contents that gets filled throughout the year as I add things to my notebook.

How do you like to plan and organize your days? My Everything planner and notebook allows me to have a planner and a notebook all in one spiral-bound notebook, and easily access my to-do list, notes, brainstorms, and so much more.

  1. This is hands down the best use of the monthly planner I have seen. I have seen so many videos but this tops them all.
