Horse-Themed Birthday Party

A certain little girl in our house turned 11 recently and we celebrated with a horse-themed birthday party.  Marley is learning to ride Western-style and will eventually move up to barrel racing (insert terrified momma here) and we were thrilled when her trainer (one of our close friends) allowed us have her party at the barn.

I made some really cute Trail Mix Horse-Themed Party Favors for the kiddos and I’m excited to share them with you.

I wanted something different – not your average goody bag of candy.  I found this picture on Pinterest and became inspired:

Really cute, right?  So I was inspired.

I rounded up my supplies:

  • Ball jars – pint-sized
  • Toy horses from Michael’s
  • Scrapbook paper

Using the lid of the Ball jar as a template, I cut circles from the scrapbook paper.

Using a hot glue gun, I glued the circles of scrapbook paper to the lids of the Ball jars.

Then I attached the toy horses to the lids with the hot glue gun.

Almost done….now we need the trail mix.

My kid-friendly trail mix ingredients include:

  • Honey Nut Chex
  • Pretzels
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Milk chocolate chips
  • Peanut butter chips

I mixed it all together in a big grocery bag then scooped it into the Ball jars and attached the lids.

Cute, right?  Yep.  They were a hit.

We had a great party.  We all rode horses, ate cake, busted open a pinata…you know, the whole nine yards.  Yeehaw Y’all!
