Our Lake House Home Tour (So Far)

Welcome to our lake house! We moved in about a month ago, and have been busy unpacking, hanging pictures, and learning the rhythm of the new place. We are far from “done” (don’t think we’ll ever truly be done), but I wanted to bring you over to our lake house home tour, so come on in!

We moved into our dream home about a month ago, and now I'm giving you a lake house home tour (so far)!

OUR LAKE HOUSE HOME TOUR

We looked at 17 houses, y’all. SEVENTEEN…before finding one that checked most of the boxes. Because we knew that this was most likely our forever home, and because my mom was moving with us, we had several requirements:

  • Finished basement apartment for mom
  • Dock, preferably with boat lift
  • On big water (not in a cove)
  • Reasonable driving distance from my husband’s workplace

Doesn’t seem so difficult, right? But yeah, it took 17 houses for us to find a place, and we LOVE the home we bought!

We have a nice, wooded lot with a big front yard, which the dogs love! Our house sits back from the road, and the trees provide us with great shade and tons of beautiful bird friends!

As you head to the front door, our greeters will welcome you warmly, offering you a gift for visiting. (Dakota will be upset if you don’t return said gift, however. It’s her favorite “baby”.)

As you walk in, you’ll have a gorgeous view of the lake from our huge picture window in the living room.

Daisy loves her spot in the sunshine in front of the window. My fiddle leaf loves that window, too. She’s been growing like crazy and thriving since I moved her!

Our living room gets incredible natural light. We rarely turn lights on, honestly. Our previous home had very little natural light, so this is a welcome change for me.

We have an open floor plan with the kitchen and dining area overlooking the living room.

Sidenote: Don’t you love that rug under the table? Got it at Target. Swoon!

Next let’s head into my home office. You may have noticed the French doors behind the sofa with the “Sweet Tea” sign at the top. That’s my office, y’all!

It’s a lot bigger than the home office at my previous home, and it has doors, AND it has a CLOSET! I’m so stoked about that closet. Now I have a place to store my camera gear and lighting equipment, laptop bags, and craft supplies!

You may remember my desk from my home office makeover at the previous house. The bookcase is a new purchase and I love it! It fits that little nook perfectly and houses my books, records, and mementos.

We’re staying on the main level of the house for this tour, so the next stop is our master bedroom.

Can you tell we’re dog parents? The majority of the floor is dog beds, but  hey – we live here and so do my girls!

We splurged and bought a new bedroom suite and mattress (y’all, it’s like a dream) for our master bedroom. The pew/bench up against the window was built by my husband and used to live on the front porch of our previous house. We loved it for this space, and will eventually paint it distressed white to match the bed.

We have a big window with a view of the lake, and a door that goes to the screened-in porch, which you can also access through the dining area. It’s so nice to wake up in the morning, draw open the curtains, then step outside and take in the fresh air and gorgeous lake!

Let’s head out to the porch now, shall we?

This is another of Daisy Mae’s favorite spots. She loves to sit out here and watch the squirrels in the yard, and she’s fascinated by the boats going by (although she isn’t a fan of swimming).

We have a small table and chairs, and a couple of adirondack chairs for relaxing and sipping my morning sweet tea.

Did you bring your swimsuit? Let’s go down to the dock!

We’re on big water with a depth of about 12′ right off the end of the dock. We don’t have a boat yet, but it’s on the list. We go swimming pretty much everyday, and the sunsets each night are spectacular!

See what I mean?

It’s my favorite time of day, sunset. I grab my camera and head down to the dock and just watch. Each one is different, and they’re all fantastic and brilliant. I can’t get enough!

It’s truly a dream to call this place home. I’m happy you came by for a visit! Once we get a little further along on the basement, I’ll bring you back for another tour!
