One Room Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box

“The only constant in life is change.” Ain’t it the truth?! Because of a recent (awesome) life change (and NO I’m not pregnant), my plans for the One Room Challenge have changed. But it’s all good! I’m Thinking Outside the Box!

One Room Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box to Stay Inside the Budget | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceYou might have heard, or maybe you haven’t – either way I’m going to fill you in. Last week my full-time job got cut to part-time.

Now, while a lot of people might freak out or be devastated, I’m actually ecstatic! I really don’t like my job and have been working hard on this blog and business for a while now in the hopes that I can leave that job completely. I have a three-hour round trip commute, too.

My new schedule now allows me to be home three days each week! WOOT WOOT!!

However, with the full-time job being cut to part-time, that also means my pay is being cut to part-time pay. Extra expenses are no longer on the budget. Trust me, we’re not hurting to pay bills or anything like that, but we’re being smart with our money and stretching it as much as possible.

The plans for the home office makeover are changing a bit because of all this stuff. It’s fine, though. It’s forcing me to be extra creative, using the resources I have in front of me.

One Room Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box to Stay Inside the Budget | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceThe current state of my craft room/home office is: bare naked. Pretty much, anyway.

I’ve emptied it of everything except the table and the shelving unit because I intended to paint it white.

But like I said, things have changed.

One Room Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box to Stay Inside the Budget | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceI’ve moved the table and shelving unit into what will be their new homes.

That far corner over there? That’s going to be home to my umbrella lights and will be where I’ll record videos and shoot webinars once this space is finished.

As for the walls, I originally planned to paint the entire room white. But now, I’ve got an even COOLER idea that you’ll just have to wait to see next week!

One Room Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box to Stay Inside the Budget | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceThe original plan for this shelving unit was to paint it black. That’s changing, too – still working on my plans for that part.

I’m not sure if I want to paint it white or leave it natural. Or maybe I’ll do something completely different – who knows?! It’ll be a surprise – to you and me both!

One Room Challenge: Thinking Outside the Box to Stay Inside the Budget | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceI’ve moved the table between the two windows so I get nice natural light when I’m working there.

I honestly think this space is going to be even more fabulous than I originally planned. Plus, I’ll be able to use up some of the random things I’ve had sitting around the house for a while. I hope you’ll stay tuned!
