If you follow me on Facebook, I’ve been promising y’all that I’d share some gift wrap inspiration with you, and I’ve been a little busy (and haven’t done much gift shopping HA!) but, I finally put together a tutorial for you to show you how to perfectly wrap a gift! The best part is, you won’t waste tape! Actually, you won’t even use tape. Seriously!
I promise you it’s actually easy to wrap gifts beautifully, without seams, and without tape. There’s a lot of pictures to explain each step, so let’s get to it.
Grab your gift in it’s box, your gift wrap, scissors and a glue stick. Yep! A glue stick!
Cut your paper to size, leaving enough to cover the ends of the box on both sides, and all the way around the box.
Flip your paper upside down, then lay your box upside down on top of the paper, about an inch inside the edge. Rub your glue stick along the edge of the paper, that one inch overlap, and fold it onto the box, as shown in the photo above.
Carefully roll the paper all the way around your box and crease the paper along the original edge. This will be your cut line.
Now that you’re paper is cut, it should line up to lay flush with the edge of your box, overlapping the first piece you glued down.
Slather your glue stick along the edge of this piece and press it firmly to smooth it down.
See? No seam! Hard to explain, easy to do.
Now for the ends. Fold the left and right sides in and crease it.
Glue that whole piece, not just the edge. You want it to stick to the box, so slather on that glue.
Flip the box over and glue the other end down the same way. Repeat for the opposite end of the box.
No seams! Hooray!
Now let’s dress it up with a bow. Here’s an easy bow tutorial.
Cut a long piece of ribbon – the length will vary depending on the size of your box. If you need to measure, measure all the way around the box in both directions (long and short sides) then add enough to make a big bow.
Fold the ribbon in half, then lay the ribbon along the top of the box, middle of the ribbon in the middle of the box.
Wrap the ribbon around to the back of the box, then flip the box over and give the ribbon a twist. The ends of the ribbon should now be pointing the opposite direction, as you can see in the picture above.
Wrap the ribbon back to the top of the box and tie it, pulling tightly.
Tie your ribbon, pull it tightly, then trim the edges.
Voila! A beautifully and perfectly wrapped gift with no seams, no tape, and no mess!
Ok, now I ask you…what gift wrap tricks do you have?
