It’s time for kids to head back to school, and that brings with it an influx of papers to sign, forms to fill out, and study guides to keep up with.  Marley is in middle school, and that also means she has more tests, quizzes, and projects than she used to, so we needed a little help in the organization department.  We headed to Staples to stock up on our favorite school and craft supply – Sharpies!

Sharpie School At A Glance Board | Sweet tea & Saving GraceWe’ve had an old dry erase board sitting in my office for a while now not being used, so I decided to give it a makeover and put it to work!

001The first thing I had to do was get rid of that boring faux wood frame, so I covered the whole board in paper and taped it down around the edges with painter’s tape.

002Then I slapped a good coat of white spray paint all over and let it dry overnight.

Once the paint was dry, it was time to get to work!

Sharpie School At A Glance Board | Sweet tea & Saving GraceMarley is a big fan on neon, so I love that Sharpie has these multi-packs in bright neon colors.  I decided to use those for her at-a-glance board.  I also grabbed my ruler and a manila folder.

Sharpie School At A Glance Board | Sweet tea & Saving GraceTo help Marley keep up with due dates and test dates, I created a grid for a calendar.  I simply measured a printed calendar I had laying around and copied those measurements onto my board.

We also needed a place to store those papers that will need to be signed, so I used the neon Sharpies to decorate that plain manila folder, then attached it to the bottom of the dry erase board.

Sharpie School At A Glance Board | Sweet tea & Saving GraceI added an adhesive pen holder to the side of the board so there’s always a pen handy when those papers come rolling in.

That’s it!  Now we have a place to see and store all of her current school projects and deadlines at-a-glance.  No missed assignments or lost papers this year!

Sharpie School At A Glance Board | Sweet tea & Saving GraceWe both love having a space to keep school items together, and Marley feels confident that this will help her stay on top of her assignments.

Sharpie School At A Glance Board | Sweet tea & Saving GraceMake sure to stock up on Sharpies for all of your back to school needs!  All Sharpie Fine and Ultra Fine assortment packs and Sharpie Neon Marker packs are currently on sale at Staples through August 24, 2014, while supplies last!

  1. I love it! I’m such a sucker for markers. I love how you’ve put the file folder on the white board – that’s genius!

  2. Yes, I’ve tried to steal Marley’s sequined bag but she’s not having any of it 🙂 Thank you!
