Here are the basic supplies:
You can use any size shadowbox. I had an 8×8 on hand so I went with that. Grab some sand and shells, and a photo from your time on the beach. The photo I’m using is one from our wedding of my daughter looking out over the water. One of my favorites from that day!
You’ll need to decorate your background. For my shadowbox, I chose a piece of scrapbook paper that coordinated with my picture.
Using the back of the shadowbox as a template, I traced and cut out my scrapbook paper to fit in the frame.
Next, I adhered the scrapbook paper onto the inside of the shadowbox, then adhered my photo onto the paper using double-sided tape.
This is where you can get a little crafty. I made a sun out of yellow cardstock and washi tape in the corner of my shadowbox.
You could add a fun quote about the beach, or draw something cute like a beach scene with waves and fish…whatever floats your boat. (Haha….pun intended.)
I combined my brown and white sand and added some to the inside of the shadowbox.
I glued sisal rope and a couple of shells to my image using a hot glue gun for a little extra flair.
I popped that bad boy into my shadowbox and now I have a cute and summery beach themed shadowbox!

I love it! I never would have thought about creating a “mini beach” , but it’s a great idea! I want to try this!
This is a really great DIY project. Perfect for those beach lovers.
