Summer is for Slowing Down

Today marks the start of Marley’s summer break from school, and in just 2 short days, I’ll hit the 1 year mark of rebranding this little piece of the internet after my extended blog break last year.  I’ve found myself thinking more and more about the plans for this blog and my business goals in general, and thought I’d take this opportunity to share them with you.  I also want to make sure I keep you in the loop with what’s going on around here by letting you know my summer plans for Sweet Tea & Saving Grace.  In a nutshell, Summer is for Slowing Down.

Summer is for Slowing Down | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceSummer is known in the blogging world as the slow months, when folks are more apt to spend time outside and with family than indoors reading blog posts.  A lot of bloggers feverishly work extra hard to keep their blog traffic on the up and up during these months, but to be honest, my numbers just don’t concern me.  You can read exactly how I feel about stats & numbers right here if you like.

I intend to soak up as much sunshine and family time as possible this summer, because I only have 5 more summers with my daughter before she graduates from high school.  That’s not to say I won’t be working on projects, however.

SUMMER PLAN #1: LESS FREQUENT POSTING

From Monday, June 1 through Friday, September 4, I’ll only be posting an average of twice a week, as opposed to 3 or 4 times per week.  You’ll see one normal DIY, craft, organization or recipe post at the beginning of the week, and The Crafted Collective on Fridays.

SUMMER PLAN #2: BEHIND THE SCENES UPDATES

Erin Condren Deluxe Notebook Review | Sweet Tea & Saving GraceMy heart and passion for blogging doesn’t end with DIY & craft projects.  I want to bring more of the “business” side of blogging to Sweet Tea & Saving Grace, and plan to spend my summer reevaluating my goals and figuring out how to bring that aspect of my business into this blog.  I’ll be restructuring some things that will begin to make their appearance in September after Labor Day.

SUMMER PLAN #3: HOME PROJECTS

Boho HorizontalWe have a few unfinished projects that I will be working to finalize around the house, like my daughter’s boho bedroom makeover.  I also want to clean up our front yard and porch, and add more flowers to our yard.

SUMMER PLAN #4: LESS IS MORE

I’ve been finding myself really annoyed lately with the amount of “stuff” we have in our home that we either don’t use, don’t need, or don’t love any longer.  I’ve heard great things about the Konmari method of decluttering and may give that a shot.  I’ll share a lot more of that in the weekly newsletter than here on the blog.  (Not subscribed?  Sign up HERE.)

SUMMER PLAN #5: VIDEOS!!

I’ve got some ideas in my head for creating videos for my DIY & home decor crowd, and for the business aspects of blogging that I love so much.  Some will be short & sweet and fit inside the 12-second format for Instagram, so be sure to follow me HERE.  Others will be much more in-depth as I work to expand my YouTube channel.

So there you have it folks – my summer plans in a nutshell!  Oh, and did I mention I’m speaking at Haven Conference in July, too?  It’s going to be an exciting summer and I’m anxious to get started!

I’d also really love to hear from you!  What are your summer plans?  And what do you look forward to the most from what I’ve just shared with you?

  1. My summer plans consist of me jump starting my blog again (thanks for your help) and as many home projects as I can fit in! Summers are my break from work/school so they are the busiest!!
I also have the books “the life/changing magic of tidying up” and “breathing room” that I have been using, so can’t wait to see your less- is -more posts!

  2. My summer plan has begun….truthfully it was not much of a PLAN…I sort of FELL INITO the project of redoing my bedroom. It had been on my WISH TO DO list for …ohmy do I have to admit it [years].

No pressure- no dead line- I just know what I want to end up with: An all white room that IS NOT all white but what I prefer to call SHADES OF WHITE.

Come find me…you can be sure I will be showing a couple of BRAG POSTS when it is done.

  3. Some of my favorite projects are those that just kind of…happen. I can’t wait to see your bedroom in all those glorious shades of white! It sounds so dreamy!
